A total of $2,235 was raised to be split between our two beneficiaries, the Cruz Roja and DOGLAND Animal Rescue Center.

• Approximately 1,000 people attended the event.
• The event was extremely well organized due to the efforts of the Action Alliance Development Committee, Gringo Central, and the close to 50 individuals who volunteered their time.
• Many new relationships were developed with key organizations including UCR Museo Regional (Roxana Salazar) and Radio Sideral (Claudio Rojas).
• The example set at the book sale has already been recreated and improvised on a barrio level as witnessed by the efforts of Paul and Michele Gawenka who solicited funds from their neighbors and have purchased several popular series of books that will be available on loan to children in Magallanes.

We want everyone who reads this to know that 100% of the proceeds are being donated to our two beneficiaries. The Community Action Alliance and several of its members covered all the event expenses. The Museum donated the space for free, produced banners, and paid for publicity. Radio Sideral donated Public Service Announcements and conducted three separate interviews. COOPENAE provided meeting space and are handling the event proceeds. This was truly a community event and everyone who supported the project is to be congratulated, including those of you who bought books.

The Community Action Alliance, supported by our friends at Gringo Central San Ramon, will be holding a book sale on Saturday, November 12, 2011 to with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the San Ramon Red Cross and DOGLAND, San Ramon's own dog shelter.

Our goal is to collect 2,000 books (English AND Spanish!!!), CD's, DVD's, magazines, language materials, jewelry & crafts to sell. Book prices will be: 1,000 to 2,000 colones, with discounts for ALL students
