Questions & Answers:

What kind of insurance is included as part of your marchamo and what does it really COVER?

Obligatory Insurance, it covers ¢2,000,000 in case of injury or death of third persons.

What are the different types of vehicle insurance available?

Effective Real Value (Market Value): The deductibles are percentual, according to each coverage present in the attached document.

First Absolute Risk (PRA): There is only one deductible of ¢105,000 for coverages D, F and H.

Can you tell about liability coverage: what it costs and what it covers?

It costs around ¢50,000 and covers injury or death of third persons and damages to a third party’s property.

How quickly are claims paid?  Will the insurance pay the repair shop directly or do you have to pay and then be reimbursed?

The insurance gives the repair shop the refactions that it can obtain, the ones missing, will be bought by the repair shop and charges INS when the car is fully repaired.

Is there a "deductible" or "co-pay" and if so how much?

Look at the attached document for more information on this.

What kind of full-coverage insurance is available for your car?  Does it include THEFT or is that something different?

The client may choose between full coverage, or any of the coverages included on the attached document.

How much does full coverage cost? (How is the cost calculated?)

It depends on things, such as vehicles market value and vehicle’s model. The cost is calculated using a program that I have. If you need a quote of a specific vehicle I can send it to you.

If you injure someone with your vehicle, can that person sue you and does insurance cover that?

Yes, you can be sued. In case that you lose, the judge can make you pay the cost for the trial.

Are there different kinds of "theft" coverage -- in other words, what is available for if your CAR is stolen?  What is available (if anything) for if you have things stolen FROM your car, not the car itself?

It’s a single coverage which covers both, the car being stolen and things inside the car being stolen.

Since *most* people attending the presentation are gringos, are there special considerations for extranjeros?  For example -- do you have to be a legal resident? Do you have to have a Costa Rican driver's license? What happens if you let someone else (a visitor) drive your car and they don't have a Costa Rican license?

For the INS to cover a claim, the foreigner must have less than 3 months in Costa Rica. I he has more than 3 months, he must have the Costar Rican drivers license. It is not necessary to be a legal resident, as the assurance can be made with a passport.

For myself, I know that I would like to sign up for the liability automobile insurance (the one that I believe is inexpensive, perhaps around ¢60,000 or something like that?) so if possible could you be sure to bring the forms for that and tell me ahead of time if there is anything special that *I* need to bring to you for that application.

I will make sure to bring the forms. The only two things that you need are to bring the car over, and the car needs to have valid RTV.
