Continued...

In 2006 our lives were in a state of transition, we took a trip to Costa Rica and in December of the same year we moved to San Ramon. Prior to moving we sold nearly everything we owned – our house, cars, furniture, etc. We wanted a fresh start; we were in search of something that was missing from our lives; or we were trying to run from our problems.  We’re still not sure which. 

We are not retired; we moved to Costa Rica with the goal of living abroad and experiencing a different culture knowing that we would have to find a way to earn a living.  We’ve made several investments and many bad decisions.  Despite our mistakes we have no regrets about our move to San Ramon.  We are learning and growing as people and that makes it all worthwhile. 

We’ve been involved with the Action Alliance since day one when it was called the Small Business Alliance and we were just a bunch of ex-pats trying to support one another.  We’ve watched the organization grow and evolve and take great pride in the contribution the Action Alliance is making to the local community and to all residents of Costa Rica.  Our participation has been very gratifying.  We’ve received more from our time and commitment than we have given: we’ve learned what it means to be part of a community and to make a difference.  And that has been a gift.
