Continued...

I have opened four Chiropractic offices in Esparza, San Ramón, Liberia and San Carlos. The main reason I moved to Costa Rica was my attraction to the tropical lifestyle. I love to travel to beautiful beaches and hot springs, so I thought, “Why not move somewhere where these places are only a weekend drive away?” Another reason for my move to Costa Rica was to spread Chiropractic to areas in the world where access is limited.

During my 11 years in Costa Rica, I left a few times on extended trips. During 2000,  I enrolled in a teacher-training course at the Sivananda Ashram on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Here, I learned the skills to teach Yoga.

During the Spring of 2004, I enrolled in a Raw Food Chef program at the Tree Of Life in Patagonia, Arizona. The program was a three-month externship in a kitchen, creating raw foods for guests at the resort/clinic in accordance with their dietary restrictions. Afterwards, I continued teaching raw food classes at heath food stores and then moved to Hawaii to learn more about Ashtanga Yoga.

I enjoy surfing and snowboarding and traveling back to the USA to visit my family.

The types of businesses that I have opened in Costa Rica are:
1. Chiropractic Office
2. Shipping Container Home building business
3. Real Estate business
4. SEO business for websites
5. Personal Health Coach, Diet and Nutrition
My primary objective in conducting business in Costa Rica was to serve the general public with Chiropractic care and offer an alternative to the medical approach to healing.

I have had many challenges working and living in Costa Rica. My biggest challenges have been trusting people to work for me, to show up on time, and to refrain from robbing me when I turn my head. This sounds crazy but it’s true. As a foreigner, you feel more vulnerable to everything - especially in the beginning, as you are adapting and learning the language.

I am excited to be involved in the creation of a business alliance in Costa Rica and creating an interactive high-traffic website where people can add their comments and concerns about doing business in the area.
If someone has a good experience with a mechanic or a backhoe driver, then they can post it on the site. If someone new is making banana bread to sell, they can post it. Babysitting services, a food or parts run into San Jose, available room at the beach for a weekend, the need for a house/dog sitter can all be posted. “Can I park my car at your lot while I fly to the states?”, “I need an airport pick up.”, “I want to sell some of my stuff.” (Our own Craig’s List, but here in San Ramon)

I am also very excited about being involved with the business alliance of Costa Rica to meet and mingle with like minded folks, people who left their country to start something new, here in Costa Rica.

We all crave community in some way shape or form. So I am very excited to being part of the creation of a local alliance for people to gather, connect and support each other.
