Community Membership — Dues: 10,000 colones per calendar year

Commmunity Membership is available to those individuals who have not formed a business, including those who have not yet moved to Costa Rica and are in their investigatory phase. Provides attendance at mixers and seminars. (Community members cannot be a“featured business” at a mixer or on the website. If they “upgrade” to Business Membership during the year, the dues already paid will be applied to their amount due.)

Business Membership (10 employees or less) — Dues: 20,000 colones per calendar year

Business Membership is available to any small business and provides all the above benefits of membership. 

Multiple employees from a business are welcome to attend the mixers, however one person should be designated to give the “business introduction” and to introduce the other attendees. 

An individual with multiple businesses may join as a Business Member on behalf of one of their businesses and may be a "featured business" at a mixer and on the website. They may mention the other businesses briefly during introductions. If they wish to have “full benefits” for multiple businesses (such as being a featured business), they need to join for each business separately and pay the additional business membership fee(s).

Corporate Membership (more than 10 employees) — 30,000 colones per calendar year

Supporting Business Membership is available to larger businesses and those who wish to provide additional support to the Alliance. The Supporting Membership is particularly appropriate to professionals (attorneys, tax consultants, doctors, etc.) who will be serving as “expert advisors” to the Alliance and who stand, therefore, to derive substantial benefit from this role. 

Your annual dues help to support the work of the Action Alliance by financing:

• Community Action Alliance web site hosting
• Administrative expenses such as office supplies, printing, & photocopying
• Event expenses, when not donated
• Financial donations, as possible, to events sponsored by our Allances, such as the Propaz Toy Swap
• Expert technical support, when necessary
• Note:  All committee members volunteer their time, pay membership dues annually, and are reimbursed for CAA-related expenses only

Great question! To many there are very few things in life that can be said with any degree of certainty.  Here are a few things that we know with certainty:

• We know that we live in a special place and take great pride in feeling like we contribute to making that place special. 
• We know the importance of community, volunteerism, and service in the lives of our neighbors and in our own lives.  
• We know that many of you relocated to Costa Rica to relax and don’t want to (and will not) be coerced in to doing anything.   
• We know that many of you are contributing in your own personal way in the community and don’t feel like you need to be a part of an organization to contribute. 
• We know that many of you are very independent and are not “joiners”
• We know that San Ramón is rapidly building a reputation as a city where people come if they want to be active and make a difference in their community. 
• We know that local business, government and community members appreciate the work of the Action Alliance. 
• We know that in just over two short years the Community Action Alliance has become one of the most effective ex-pat based community groups in Costa Rica. 
• We know that we are making a difference.
• We know this would not be possible without people that take joy in working with and helping other people.
