Februrary Committee Notes
Submitted by Mark A Koeppl DVM
Thank you to the many CAA members who have offered moral and material support. I appreciate the help!
For the foreseeable future, we are organized with myself as the chair, Cyndy handling accounting matters and Sharon assisting with Global Giving obligations.
A principal component of my role is to triage distribution of funds and development of new projects. Cyndy's background and recent past experience more than prepares her for the banking and accounting issues. There is one active GG project and we've recently received money from that source. We will add projects as appropriate and we will consider various other means to raise funds, some of which are less costly than GG.
I observed the very efficient spay neuter operation of Karen Arce's 4 Patos de Pura Amor. 144 animals are newly sterilized between two days, one in San Ramon and one in Magallanes. We funded about 75% of the procedures, some medications and the facility use fee for the Magallanes Community Center. The latter was relatively expensive compared to the space in San Ramon.
The next clinic is 21st of Feb. There is limited need for the physical assistance of members; the main value is helping carry patients and keeping them comfortable during their recovery. There is also a need for durable, washable bedding for the recovery area.
I have had many conversations and brainstorming sessions regarding the educational coloring book. The next couple of months I hope to gather more ideas on the messages we want to share and art contributions. This could become enormously complex, it could be a fund raising endeavor and it will take time to evolve. Prime directives are to have as much Tico input as possible and to create an end product that is useful in many ways. Please keep your ideas and advice coming! I appreciate it.
Respectfully
MAK
