Árbol de Esperanza

,Árbol de Esperanza, working in collaboration with Ready to Empower (RTE), is a non-profit organization that provides a safe and secure space for women within San Ramón and surrounding communities. They focus on the empowerment and reinforcement of abilities of their participants with the goal of achieving individual autonomy.
RTE began in 2013 when its founder, Amanda Ready, met a community of women in Costa Rica without access to long-term support. Having worked in the social services and mental health fields, Amanda began offering mental health therapy to women to gain insight into their emotional challenges. After many sessions with the women, Amanda learned that not only was mental health support needed, but they also needed food, clothing, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. Amanda spent the next three months in Costa Rica forming relationships, gaining trust, building programs, and cultivating leaders who could carry out her vision and eventually run day-to-day operations. Once she returned to the United States, Amanda founded Ready to Empower and created a Costa-Rica-based organization, Árbol de Esperanza, to work in connection with RTE. The creation of Árbol de Esperanza became the first partnership and continues to be guided and supported by Ready to Empower. Árbol de Esperanza stands as a blueprint and pilot model as RTE looks to expand into other poverty-stricken communities around the world.
Árbol de Esperanza utilizes the programs created by Ready to Empower to restore hope and foster self-reliance for women living in poverty.
Mental Health Program
The Mental Health Program empowers poverty-stricken women through advocacy and mental and emotional support. Árbol de Esperanza offers individual treatment plans, domestic violence support, educational workshops, and individual and group counseling. These services ensure that a woman’s basic human rights are being met and protect their emotional and psychological well-being, enabling the women to meet the demands of their everyday life and ultimately to realize their full potential.
Work for Service Program
The Work for Service program is a short-term job training and educational program that helps participants become more employable and less reliant on charity by providing them the opportunity to work in exchange for in-kind goods and services including medical and dental care, basic toiletries, and more. Árbol de Esperanza collaborates with local businesses to provide job opportunities/internships to provide women on-the site-job training to build skills and develop relationships in the community as well as networking opportunities.
CAA provides support to Árbol de Esperanza by donating goods, food, and funds to support their day-to-day operations. You can donate to support our work through Global Giving, through our Charitable Assistance Fund, or by giving your cash donation to any Board member at CAA-sponsored events.
