Spanish Conversation Groups start Tuesday, October 29

10/13/2019

The next eight-week session of CAA’s Spanish Conversation groups begins on Tuesday, October 29 and continues through Tuesday, December 17. The cost is 15,000 colones per person and classes are held at the San Ramón library. Three levels are offered. Click here  for more information.

Registration is open until Thursday, October 24. On that day, Lynette Lewis will collect tuition at Cafe Delicias  between 9:30am and 11:00am. If, for some reason, you can’t come on this day, please try to have a friend come pay for you or make alternate arrangements with Susan Knab as we need a firm idea of paid students. Please try to have exact change!

Please email Susan if you have any questions.

Last month, Árbol de Esperanza won the first stage of an award given by the ULatina and Youth Accion Net. CAA has just learned that Árbol de Esperanza was one of five winners of the Yo Creo prize of the Universidad Latina.  Karen Jara, the director (and a CAA vocal) will receive the prize in San José next month. She will also receive specialized training as part of the award.

In addition, Karen wrote to CAA to tell us how CAA’s financial support of the organization is being used: "A woman has been at the shelter due to very serious domestic violence. She has nothing and no home to live in, so we were able to cover a 35,000 colones deposit and 130,000 colones of rent for a house for a month, while we coordinate with the Mixed Institute of Social Assistance (IMAS) so that they can cover the other months at least until December. We will also buy food for this month, and a template so she can cook.” CAA and Árbol de Esperanza are making a difference in the lives of women and their families in the San Ramon area.
